How are you spending Black Friday this year? At Delaware State Parks, rather than spend the day Black Friday shopping, we invite you to #OptOutside and join us in one of our State Parks FREE of charge. That’s right, we’re waiving all park entry fees across The First State on Friday, November 29th, 2019 and we invite you to join us in one of our parks or Brandywine Zoo! Started by outdoor retailer REI in 2015, the “Opt Outside” event encourages people to ditch the madness of Black Friday shopping and enjoy time spent outdoors. At Delaware State Parks, we are joining this movement and encouraging those in and around our communities to join us for a day outdoors. 2019 marks the fifth year Delaware State Parks has participated in “Opt Outside” by offering free park entry on Black Friday. As the movement has grown, it has become a tradition for many Guests visiting Delaware State Parks. Those that are willing to skip a day of marathon shopping can explore over 150 miles of trails as well as spectacular locations for bird and wildlife watching, scenic beaches, and more within Delaware State Parks! Guests are invited to find a program to enjoy during the day including a Cranberry Bog Trail Hike at Cape Henlopen State Park and a Harvest Hike at Lums Pond State Park. It is easy to find a park near you. Skip the long lines and come out to a Delaware State Park to enjoy the day with your family and friends, free of charge. Tag us in your photos, or share with #DEStateParks on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and mention #OptOutside and we may feature your photos. What is your favorite way to experience the outdoors? We hope to see you in a Delaware State Park on Friday, November 29th. Join the discussion on the Facebook event.
